Saint Joseph's College alumni in Carey family: in front, Patrick ’74, Andrea (Wagner) ’71; third from left, Sean ’99; second from left, Amber (Caron) ’01. Saint Joseph’s College Carey family tradition and legacy.Patrick and Andrea met in 1970, the first year Saint Joseph's admitted male students. They were married in 1973 and have three children, Sean, Meghan and Matthew. Patrick is quick to point out that he and Andrea were the first Saint Joseph’s College couple to have a child graduate from the College (son, Sean ’99). As excited and proud as they are to lay claim as the first College couple to produce a legacy, they are quick to give credit to friends, Michael ‘72 and Nancy ’74 Shea for coming in a close second by having daughter, Colleen (Hallee) Shea ’00, graduate just a year after Sean. Following in the footsteps of his parents, Sean met his future wife, Amber Caron, at the College nearly 31 years after his parents had met on campus. Sean and Amber were married in 2004 and currently reside in Windham. The Careys have no doubt that the core values and educational experience they received at Saint Joseph's College helped shape the lives of their family. “We had a great college experience and established lifelong friendships. While the reasons for choosing to attend Saint Joseph’s varied, we all received quality educations. The College played an important role in shaping who we are and contributed to our personal and professional success,” says Patrick. Making the choice to support the College is an easy decision for the Carey family. “In appreciation for the education we received, we will continue to provide financial support so that future students can share in the Saint Joseph's College experience.”
