I decided to come to St. Joe's because of the reputation and strength
of the nursing program, as well as the location.
For fun, I enjoy running on the trails, hanging out with friends, but
going to Portland or Freeport is always fun, too.
My favorite courses thus far have been clinicals because I am able to
apply knowledge from all of my nursing courses. I am also able to see
my growth as a nursing student from year to year with new knowledge
and clinical skills that I have developed.
I have really enjoyed the small classroom sizes as well as the availability
of teachers. It is also nice to look out of your classroom window and
see Sebago Lake as well as the mountains.

Why did you choose to come to Saint Joseph’s College?
I really liked the location and the atmosphere when I visited
during high school.
What do you do here for fun?
Spend a lot of time with friends, play pool at The Chalet, check
out local shows, go snowboarding at Shawnee Peak.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve had and
why?
I would definitely have to say pathogenic bacteriology. Being
a bio major, the depth and focus of the class just interested me so much,
and in a way influenced me to pursue parasitology in grad school.
What do you love most about Saint Joseph’s College?
The location is beautiful and the small atmosphere makes it
easy to both meet people and get work done.

Why did you choose to come to Saint Joseph’s
College?
I came to St. Joe’s because it had a good reputation for being
a strong academic college. I also knew that the faculty and staff
know students on a personal level.
What do you do here for fun?
For fun I hang out with my friends and support the athletic teams.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve
had and why?
The most interesting course I’ve taken is probably Children’s
Literature or British Writers. Both classes were English classes,
but the professors knew how to interact with the class and make it fun.
What do you love the most about Saint Joseph’s
College?
I love the size of St. Joe’s the most. Professors know their
students personally and genuinely care about their students. I
also love how a faculty/staff member you might not know will ask you
how you’re doing.

Why did you choose to come to Saint Joseph’s College?
I chose Saint Joe’s because the campus is small and everyone knows
everyone else—I love that.
What do you do here for fun?
The dances and comedians are my personal favorite. In general,
hanging out with friends is always fun.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve
had and why?
Although I’m an English major, my two favorite, and consequently
interesting, courses have been Management and Economics, both taught
by Professor Zerillo. Zerillo’s teaching style just worked
for me, and although both classes were very challenging, he made them
interesting; I really looked forward to them.
What do you love the most about Saint Joseph’s
College?
I love the faculty. I love that professors seem to genuinely care
about their students, both in and out of the classroom, and they will
go out of their way to make students feel welcome.

Why did you choose to come to Saint Joseph’s
College?
I chose SJC because of the small size of the campus. I
wanted my college experience to be more personal, I didn’t want
to be known as a “number.” The teachers here are
very personable.
What do you do here for fun?
I enjoy an occasional trip to the Old Port with friends. I
am also a member of the Business Club and participate in an alumni Phone-a-Thon
here on campus.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve
had and why?
The most interesting course I’ve taken was Marketing with
Professor Hellenbeck. His unconventional methods made learning the sometimes
dry material really fun and entertaining.
What do you love the most about Saint Joseph’s
College?
Some things I love most about SJC are the people, teachers, and
the actual campus.

and Honors Program. The campus is nice and is the right distance from
home.
What do you do here for fun?
I hangout with friends, go to the gym and play sports.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve had and
why?
Business Policy and Strategy - it was very challenging and comprehensive.
What do you love most about Saint Joseph’s College?
The people – I have a lot of friends here, and everyone I've met
has been very friendly. The professors have consistently gone out of
their way to make sure that things are going well and have really helped
me with internships and preparing for life after college.

Campus activities: SNA, Student representative for the nursing department
Why did you choose to come to Saint Joseph’s College?
I chose to attend St Joe's because of its highly regarded nursing program,
as well as it being cost-effective and a friendly, homey environment.
What do you do here for fun?
I love to attend the sporting events, go to the gym and just hang
out with friends, as well as take advantage of all the campus-sponsored
activities, like the comedians that come to school.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve
had and why?
I think that ALL of my nursing courses have been amazing in teaching
me all I need to know to prepare myself for the 'real' nursing world
once I graduate, but my Basic 2-D Design class with Scott Flanders
was also wonderful-- it made me appreciate a talent that I hadn't been
able to previously explore and opened my eyes to my artistic ability.
What do you love most about Saint Joseph’s
College?
I love the people, and the environment, and knowing full-well that
should ever any problem, question, or concern arise during my stay
here, I have so many people to help me out, back me up, and push
my up on my feet and onward.

Campus activities:
I've worked for Admissions for four years and am a Student Ambassador
currently for their office. I've also been involved with Student Senate
for the past two years.
I decided to come to St. Joe's because the nursing program
had a great reputation throughout New England. I also found that it
was a perfect fit for me because of the small classroom size and the
close-knit community. Last, but not least, I chose St. Joe's because
of the gorgeous campus. Where else can you go to school and feel
like you're on vacation at the same time?
I love to take advantage of the location. I enjoy the outdoors,
so I go on a lot of walks and hikes and I snowshoe in the winter.
I also love heading to Portland once in a while on the weekends to
catch a band playing at some of the local pubs.
The most interesting course for me has probably been Ecology
and the Environmental Challenge. Although I am a nursing major, I think
this class is so different from anything I've taken in college. It
helps you realize how big of an impact one person has on the environment,
and how small the changes have to be to make a difference. It's really
opened my eyes to a whole new area of information that truly intrigues
me.
I love the faculty. My professors have been key in my success and are
supportive every step of the way; my nursing instructors are like a second
family to me.

Because
the location on Lake Sebago was so beautiful, most of the facilities
are new, the class ratio of students to teachers, and the friendly people
on campus.
Sports, intramurals, clubs, hang out with
friends.
Introduction to New Testament with Dr. Steven Bridge, because the class
revealed so many interesting interpretations of the different Gospels
and taught me to better myself as a Christian. Plus Dr. Bridge is the
man!
The atmosphere. Everything is so accessible, the trails and the lake,
classrooms and the gym, food and activities. At Saint Joseph's College,
I feel at home.

I came to SJC because of the beautiful campus, small class sizes, it
has my major and a good program for it — and a pool.
I like to hang out with friends, watch sporting events and go to some
of the extra events put on by the school.
I really enjoyed my health assessment class because it was really the
first time I was put into a nursing role as well as it was a lot of
fun to learn the skills. Also my Introducation to Judeao-Christian
Tradition class has been very interesting and its fun to understand a
little bit about the Bible and religion.
How pretty it looks as the seasons change and the school changes with
it. Like Christmas lights on the light posts and the Christmas tree
at the entrance of the school.

I chose SJC because everyone was so nice when I came to visit. They
made me feel so welcome that I really wanted to be a part of it. I
also liked that I wouldn't be just a number, like at the bigger
schools. The fact that teachers would know me, and I would be able
to go to them if I needed help was important for me.
For fun, I spend time with my friends, attend various activities on campus
(games, dances, comedians, etc.), take trips into Portland, go to the
movies, go skiing at Sunday River, Sugarloaf, or Shawnee Peak, go down
to the lake, go out to eat.
The most interesting course I've taken here would have to be physiology.
We surgically removed the sex organs from rats and monitored
the physiological effects it had. For some we actually ended up
injecting them with a sex hormone and monitored the effects. The
surgery was nerve-racking at first, but after the first one it was exciting
(we each got to do two or three rats).

Why did you choose to come to Saint Joseph’s College?
I wanted to come back to Maine, I love the location, and I enjoy the
small class sizes; I also love how the professors are there to help
you and will take time out of their schedules to help the students!
What do you do here for fun?
SJC has a lot of activities that I attend to try new things. I hangout
with the great people, take nature walks down to Sebago Lake, and work
at Wal-Mart. Everyday you find something fun and spontanious to
do at SJC.
What’s the most interesting course you’ve had and
why?
My most interesting course at SJC has been Judaeo Christian tradition.
It’s interesting and unique, and Professor Mary Sheriden makes
it thrilling! Even if you don’t know exactly what you’re
reading about, she will give you positive feedback and use different
techniques to help you understand. I really enjoy the class and enjoy
going to it!
What do you love most about Saint Joseph’s College?
I love having freedom away from home. You basically can set your lifestyle
up here, and it is a fun place to be. Because it's a small campus, you
meet a lot of great people, and you can always find something to do.
