Saint Joseph's College of Maine

Service Learning

Saint Joseph’s is a leader in the field of service learning, whereby you earn academic credit by applying what you learn in the classroom to a real-world setting. In recent years, students who chose a service learning option tutored immigrant children from Somalia, staffed a rural food pantry, and mentored middle school children who needed extra help, just to name a few.

Service learning enriches a liberal arts education. You may stretch your comfort zone, but you’ll grow in the process. In each of the last several years, more than 200 students in 19 different courses participated in the program.
