Dale Brooker

Professor Brooker's current research and publications address the prisoner re-entry process and correctional education:

Presented "Expanding the Vision of Visual Sociology: Critical Visual Criminology" at the International Visual Sociology Association Conference.

Contributed a chapter on property crimes in the textbook Criminology: Theory, Research and Policy.

His other interests include the history of prisons, capital punishment, white-collar crime, criminological theory and gender issues in criminal justice. Throughout his career, he has won awards for teaching excellence, outstanding leadership and writing excellence.

Professor Brooker is an active member of the Justice Studies Association (JSA), the Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP), the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences (NEACJS) and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS).

Professor Brooker earned his Ph.D. from Sam Houston State University in 2005. His dissertation was titled "Exploring the Expectations and Attitudes of Recently Released Inmates from the Texas prison System: A Focus on Familial Support."
